Christ Pantocrator is one of the most common images in Christian iconography and was one of the first developed in the Christian Church. Pantocrator is generally translated as almighty. In his left hand, Christ holds a closed book that is a symbol of the Gospels. With his left hand raised in the gesture of blessing or teaching. There is a variation of the image where the book is open, and that is typically called Christ the Teacher.

In designing my images for icon prints, I draw largely on the Neo-Coptic school of iconography. I find that the uncluttered images work nicely with the printmaking image.
