The Great Remembering

This is a sermon offered on Maundy Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Christ Episcopal Church in Fairfield, AL.

“In the gift of the Eucharist, Jesus invites us to remember the way God does. To remember the past—the Exodus from Egypt, the Last Supper with the Disciples—to remember the present moment of us gathered here in Fairfield—and to remember the future feast in the fullness of the Kingdom of God. Our shared memory in the Eucharist bends time and space. And it is in that powerful moment that we are re-membered again as the body of Christ, knit together by the waters of baptism, made siblings in Christ.”

Principal texts: Exodus 12:1-4, (5-10), 11-14 * 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
