“…and hope does not disappoint us”

As we begin the long season after Pentecost, Thomas, my preaching partner, and I have decided to focus our preaching efforts on the readings from the Hebrew Bible each week. Genesis will be the focus of June, July, and into August. This is more of a challenge for me than for Thomas who frequently focuses his attention on the First Lesson each Sunday.

So here is my first go. I cheated a bit and incorporated some of the reading from Romans, but it is a sermon that largely engages the Genesis text of the divine visitors to Abraham and Sarah.

Readings: Genesis 18:1-15, (21:1-7) * Psalm 116:1, 10-17 * Romans 5:1-8 * Matthew 9:35-10:8(9-23)
