NOTORIOUSLY EPISCOPALIAN EPISODE 8 – Weddings, Wine, and Anglicans

thumb_HS2square_1024My sermon from the Second Sunday after Epiphany, January 17, 2016, offered at The Abbey in Birmingham. We had a full house this Sunday, with real concern over whether we would have enough chairs. We managed to get folks seated, but we took up the whole back of the shop and wrapped around the side of the bar. We are normally a much smaller group, which allows us to have conversational sermons. So I arrived today thinking that we would address the events in the Anglican Communion this past week in a smaller, more conversational way. Instead, as folks kept coming in, I realized a more “traditional” sermon would be in order. I managed to hit record on my small camera. The camera’s location was behind me, so the audio is a bit in and out. Please forgive the espresso grinding and milk steaming that you occasionally hear in the background.

So I will stick my toes in the controversial waters of the current events of the Episcopal Church and its relationship with the Anglican Communion. (I also do manage to talk about Jesus as well!)

  1. I really liked that sermon about comparing the Anglican communion like a wedding. There is enough of God me love to go around . I’m currently serving as a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada , but I’m from Boston and my wife is from Huntsville Al. Keep up the good work!
