Monday School – Afrofuturism for Advent

Afrofuturism blends African American culture, history, and spirituality with futuristic visions of technology, space, and liberation. It reimagines the past and envisions a future where Black people thrive beyond oppression. During Advent—a season of waiting, hope, and preparation—Afrofuturism offers a creative lens to explore faith, freedom, and divine promise.

Afrofuturism envisions a world beyond current limitations, centered on freedom from systems of oppression. Advent calls for faith in what is not yet seen and celebrates the coming of a Savior who brings justice and peace to all people.

In this 4-week course, we will explore the intersecting themes of Afrofuturism and Advent.
