Liturgical Interruptions

A sermon for the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, September 10, 2023, offered at the Church of the Messiah, in Heflin, Alabama.

Principal Text: Exodus 12:1-14 and Matthew 18:15-20

“Both these parts of our liturgy (reconciliation and Eucharist) shape us each week, and we continue them because Jesus said to and because we need to. Our liturgy is not some magical incantation that makes everything perfect. But it is an outward and visible sign that we trust and act on the grace and salvation of God.”
