I am a woman living in Alabama. I have never had an abortion. But I know and love women who have, and I bet you do too.
I am also an ordained person in The Episcopal Church in Alabama. I have prayed with and for women making decisions about pregnancies — some unplanned, some the result of trauma, and some desperately sought but tragically medically complicated. Some of those women had abortions and some did not. And no matter the decision, I know God loves them.
What Alabama has chosen to enact as law is wrong, done for the wrong reasons.
I was going to write a long and eloquent post about what has occurred here in Alabama and The Episcopal Church’s position on this, but I think the above short paragraphs really say all the truth I have to offer on this situation.

Not the first time Alabama has made a move backwards and probably won’t be the last. This is definitely a “put down” to all women and takes them back to the dark alleys of the past!

Thank you! I am a fellow Episcopalian but it is through my counseling practice and discussions with friends where I have experienced the same heartbreaking and tough decisions faced by many teens and women. God bless them all for seeking discernment and prayerful contemplation!
