God Keeps God’s Promises

February 26, 2018Leave a comment

My sermon for the Second Sunday of Lent. Sometimes you just need the radical faith that God is going to do what God promises. Readings: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Psalm 22:22-30; Romans 4:13-25; Mark 8:31-25. https://s3.amazonaws.com/dfc_attachments/public/documents/3248602/Lent_2_22518_audio.m4a

In this Lenten season, our readings invite us to consider God's covenants. We begin with the covenant that God made with Noah and all creation. Lent is a reminder that it is not about us, it is about God. Readings: Genesis 9:8-17; Psalm 25:1-9; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Mark 1:9-15. https://s3.amazonaws.com/dfc_attachments/public/documents/3248315/Lent_1_Audio_21818.m4a

Sunday afternoon ride.
Easter afternoon bike ride.
This afternoon, I got to spend a little time in Bessemer with the Alabama Poor People's Campaign and the Rev. William Barber, II, supporting the Amazon workers campaign for a union.
364 days after regular in-person worship in the Diocese of Alabama was suspended, I am breathing a sigh of relief after receiving my 2nd shot. When your turn comes, take your shot. Thankful for science. Thanks be to God.
Not sure if I’m doing the bike riding thing correctly...
So we have reached this part of the pandemic. My neighbor Virginia Powell has formed us into a bicycle gang. Meet the 7th Ave Wolfpack!
